Creating a GLBT Coalition in Lee County

GSN member Matt Stark is working to organize a GLBT organization or coalition in Lee County that will be engaged in public education as well as lobbying to enact GLBT friendly legislation throughout Lee County and the rest of the State of Florida. Matt envisions that such a coalition would bring together organizations and individuals from such entities as the ACLU of Lee County, the Unitarian Universalist and MCC churches of Ft. Myers, members of GSN, representatives from the gay student alliances at FGCU and Edison College, and other interested individuals and GLBT supportive organizations. If you are interested in helping to develop such a coalition, contact Matt at (239) 225 6614 (from May to October call [612] 377-2211) or send him an email.

Editor’s Note: Dr. Matt Stark is the former executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota and served as the 2008 Grand Marshall for the Twin Cities Pride Festival in Minneapolis-St. Paul. He and his wife Terri have a residence in Ft. Myers and became members of GSN last fall.
